Kenneth James White III
"KJ"
On Monday January 12, 2004 I lost my beloved grandson in a tragic drowning accident. Kenneth
James White III, lovingly called 'KJ' by his family and friends, was 26 months old. He was our angel.
I would like to thank the hundreds of search volenteers; including the US Coast Guard, US Border
Patrol, Whatcom County Dive Rescue, Whatcom County Fire District No. 8. American Red Cross
Whatcom County 4x4 Search and Rescue; Explorer Search and Rescue; Summit to Sound Search
and Rescue; RACES ARES, a ham radio group; Bellingham Mountain Rescue; Whatcom County
Swift Water Rescue Team; Bellingham Police Explorers; and Whatcom County Support Officers;
Whatcom County Sheriff's Office; Fire District No. 8, State Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S.
Customs, Lummi Law and Order, the Whatcom County Public Works Department, Whatcom
County Fire District No. 1's swift-water rescue team, the Bellingham Police Department and,
especially, the hundreds of remarkable divers and volunteers who tirelessly searched in the
freezing water for my precious grandson. You will forever be in my heart and in my prayers.
Also, I would like to express my appreciation to the citizens of Marietta, Bellingham and Ferndale,
Washington for their warm support and community devotion. Most of all, I would like to offer my
deepest respect to the Lummi Indian Nation and Tribal Elders, who came to my family's spiritual
aid and offered profound blessings at a time of great need.
You will never be forgotten,
Lasha
